Kornvipa Yungsaichol

We trekked with Dan and his team in November 2015, through the Mera Peak national park. We then summitted Mera Peak itself under Dan’s leadership. The whole expedition was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I whole heartedly recommend Dan as a guide. It was a fantastic expedition.

Dan has three great attributes that you look for on a trip like this:

Experience: He knows the routes, knows how to set the right pace to help you acclimatise, and planned out the trek so that we could not only achieve our objective, but so that we could enjoy Nepal’s rich beauty. He has great knowledge of local plants, culture and geography and is always coming up with little bits of information and knowledge to make the trail interesting.

Organisation: We arrived to every camp with the logistics arranged, food available, and camping or huts at our option.

Humour: Dan is a real entertainer in the evenings – and a master cards player! There is a lot of down time in the evenings on a long trek, and we filled the time playing cards. He even knows a few magic tricks. This added to the whole experience and helped us to bond with Dan, Palsang, Pravin and Diljeng (who were all also fantastic).

Some of the photos of us standing on top of the mountain are on Dan’s website – it was an incredible moment and we were proud to share it with him. If you are looking for a great local guide and a strong support team, Dan would be a great choice.

My only advice to other trekkers is to make sure to have plenty of Nepalese currency on the trail, as you will need it to buy drinks as you go. Because the areas are so inaccessible, drinks are quite expensive (much more than in e.g. Kathmandu).

Thank you Dan and Pasang for took care me very well. I never been to the high attitude place like this before..so it's hard for me to breath and walk up to the top of hill. Thank you to Pasang for carried my heavy bag all the way we walk. I will not make it to Poon Hill without you for sure.

I have wonderful time in Nepal, Hail storm, Dalbhat, Milk tea, cute girls on the way we passed, crazy girls in Ghandruk and many many things.

Thank you Dan and Palsang Tamang for all your help and take care us like your family. If you guys wanna go to Nepal,I would recommend you to contact Dan Tamang. He is kindness and friendly. If you need more information and my wonderful experience with them. You guys can contact me anytime: meemuka@yahoo.com

We were a party of 3 (my husband, John and my sister, Sandy) and we trekked for 17 days in the Lang - tang Valley, Gosainkund and Helambu in November this year. Our guide Bhim and porters, Bir and Banta did a wonderful job. Their organization was excellent.

Trekking for Real are a very professional, as well as being very kind and friendly. Trekking for Real are a family based business who will make sure that you have the best possible experience. They tailored our trek to suit our requirements and made sure that we were well looked after throughout the trek. I would definitely recommend that you book your trek with them if you want great value for money and the pleasure of dealing with such lovely people.

Many thanks for a brilliant trek. Linda and I thought Nepal was stunningly beautiful and our trip around Manaslu and over Larkya La was memorable for so many reasons - not least being the kindness and consideration of yourself and the rest of the crew (particularly given the added challenge of my leg recovering from an old skiing break!). The trip was very well organized, with good food and a portable paraffin heater (much to the envy of other rather colder high altitude walkers!). We can unreservedly recommend the services of Real Trekking to anybody contemplating a tea house or supported camping trek in the Himalayas.

Dave and I have known Dan Tamang since 1991 and have completed many treks with him over the years. We have been to Gokyo Ri & Kalar Patar twice, walking in from Jiri and Tumlingtar; we explored the Langtang/Hemabu Region, trekked in the Annapurna Regionm and had some fun safaris in Bardia and the Terai, even a visit to Lumbini. We would not trek or travel in Nepal with anyone else and have no hesitation in recommending Dan and Trekking for Real to anyone who wants a superb trek in Nepal or to visit other destinations where he operates. Dan and his colleagues really go the extra mile to ensure that you have a wonderful and healthy time in Nepal and that you have every opportunity to meet with a variety of local people and explore many cultures. Dave and I know Thulopatel School very well and thoroughly recommend getting to know Dan and his fellow villagers and maybe doing something to assist this amazing community to bring about a better future for their children.

Just got back from Nepal where I did a 17 day teahouse trek through Langtang, Gosainkund & Helambu organized by Dan Tamang. Our team consisted of Dan's brother, Bhim, who was our guide, Dan's son, Bemba who was our assistant guide, Dan's brother-in-law, Bir, who was the head porter, and Basunta, Dan's nephew (and Bhim's son) who was the second porter. They were all terrific but we were all very touched by the enthusiasm and sincerity displayed by Bhim and Bir. I can still recall recall them asking "How can I be of service to you?" It was such a relief to arrive at our daily destination, be welcomed by Bir and Basunta, and find our bags already in our rooms (and usually the best rooms, too!). The trek was a wonderful experience and Bhim was cheerful and upbeat even when the going was tough. He was completely organized, and had our welfare at heart at all times. I'd definitely recommend them to anybody planning a trek in Nepal. A favorite memory? Watching Bhim and Bir take over a private kitchen to prepare lunch in Sermathang. These guys rock! When I get better organized I will post a photo.

Great trip, great guide! My dad and I did the everest trek in 2002. Dan and Bir really made the trip memorable. They were incredibly organized and had great suggestions and guidance while also tailoring the trip to our needs. It's been ten years but this was still one of the most amazing experiences of my life and Dan's experience and personality played an important role in that. I would be happy to provide any further information or recommendations to anyone thinking about going to Nepal.

Dan was first recommended by friends in 2009 when he superbly organized a month long tea house/camping trek for us from Jiri to Namche and across Khumbu high passes. We returned with 2 friends this year for 17 days camping around Manaslu. Dan is highly professional at all levels of trek organization and totally committed to client care. His attention to detail and individual customer comfort extended to a heater in our dining tent, hot water bottles at altitude and hot water on demand. As a bonus Dan has a great personality, is consistently cheerful and upbeat and with his camping team ( many of whom are related) makes you feel part of an extended Nepalese family working happily together. We will definitely be walking with Dan again and unreservedly recommend him to anyone organizing their own trek in Nepal.

We trekked with Dan Tamang in July/August 2012. We got in touch with Dan through word of mouth from a good friend who also trekked with us. Our party consisted of 3: myself, my daughter and my friend Jane.Dan is an honourable man with a good deal of experience guiding treks in Nepal and Northern India. He met us at the airport and was available the whole time we were in Kathmandu to help us find decent deals and sightsee. Our 8 day tea house trek was a beautiful one to Annapurna Base Camp and back. We started from Kande, just beyond Pokhara, and finished at Nyapul (just up from Berithanti). Though off season and in the middle of the monsoon, we still managed lovely views of Fish Tail, Annapurna South and the rest of the range. His wide knowledge of nature and Himalayan geography and culture helped us enjoy the experience even more.Dan saw to all the transport and accommodation and brought with him porters from his family (Pemba, Bsanta and Sujaan) who were a delight and good company for my teenage daughter. Dan speaks good English and listens to your requirements diligently, offering his trusted advice. He has a very good sense of humour and is a pleasure to be around if you can stand the bad jokes!

Furthermore, through Jane's continuing friendship with Dan, we know that in employing Dan we are helping to support Dan's wider family and village community and not lining the pocket of a tour company. In fact, this is very ethical trekking and past customers have created a network of supporters for the Salle village school and the young Nepalese of the village.

Alex and I joined the group doing the 9 day Annapurna TeaHouse Trek, at Easter 2011. It was one of the best things we have done. We spent the first couple of days in Kathmandu, where we acclimatised and did a lot of sightseeing. A culture shock but fantastic, never feeling threatened.

Then we flew down to Chitwan National Park for a few days, accompanied by Bhim, who was a great help. We had a good camaraderie with him. Did elephantback safari, dugout canoe down the river and a lovely nature walk where it was great to hear wild peacocks. Saw lots of wildlife, including rhino, crocodiles, varieties of deer. Bus ride then took us through some fabulous countryside to the start of the trek, where we met up with the rest of the group. Dan, Shyam, Bhim and the porters were always friendly, helpful and encouraging. We had great fun with them in the evenings too, sharing card games, with some fun cheating being done by a certain person who shall remain nameless, (yes you know who you are) - big grin, and some hilarious times with us walkers attempting to sing and dance.

The scenery on the trek was mindblowing, we had never encountered anything to compare with it before. The trek was definitely a challenge but we did it and wish to do it again. But don't think its a walk in the park, that it's definitely not. Lots of very steep up and down mountains. The toughest challenge was the early morning rise, to climb about 1500' I think to the top of a mountain in time to see sunrise on a 360 degree view of the mountains. We were greeted at the top with hot chocolate and a great sense of accomplishment and pride that we had done it. The last day and a half was spent dropping 2000' to finish with everyone having a swim in a mountain river fed pool.

We spent a couple more days in Kathmandu, where we went on a guided tour of the Old City, this is a must. And down to the river for a day spent looking around the most ancient of temples and watching the cremations, all carried out with dignity and love. Actually felt very at peace there.

We were sad to leave and have kept in touch with Dan. and his family.

We can't recommend the trip and the guides and porters highly enough. We will be back.

THANKS TO YOU ALL.

I would not hesitate in recommending Dan and his team for any sort of trek. I have recently come back(dec 07-jan 08) from my first trek with a group of friends to Everest base camp which was truly unforgettable experience. And Dan and his team contributed to this. Everything was organized brilliantly b Dan from the tea houses to internal transport and the well planned itinerary was flexible to account for any changes that needed to be made. We also had a lot of fun on the trek with Dan and his team and there was lovely friendly family atmosphere throughout. Nothing was too much trouble and Dan always has the best interests of the group in mind keeping a careful eye on the health of his clients which is essential when encountering such high altitudes . I’d happy to talk to anyone planning to trek with blue sky – alivasey@googlemail.com .yo.ll have a fabulous time.

I have travelled with Dan and blue sky tours in nepal on three separate occasions trekking in the annapurna region from jiri to everest and a desert expedition to the upper mustang rregion.I have experienced both tea house and camping treks .

All of my trips to Nepal with Dan have exceeded my expectations .Dan has looked after all the members of our various partied extremely well and all his staff including guides cooks and porters have ensered that all our needs were catered for.All staff members are very exprienced in the trekking business having completed many trips both for blue sky tours and for international travel agencies.Any prospective traveller has nothing to fear in booking with dan as his treks easily outstrip the offered by largter companies. The tour company has all the insurances and the staff have all relevant legal documentation and training qualifications.

Important dan is in an excellent position to organise trekking expeditions both before departure from the UK and kathmandu as well as during the holiday. clear itineries are always provided and dan takes full control of all the necessary arrangements including intenal travel transfers to and from the trekking regions, accommodation through out as well as liaison with staff and locals were necessary.

Even when difficult circumstances beyond the control of the tour leader and trekkers have occurred such as the non arrival of internal flights or illness dan has managed to ensure that the rek continues as destinations reached ( once with the aid of half a day in the trailer of tractor).

All food and accommodation provided on the trips has been excellent,I actually gained weight on my last camping trip because we ate so well.Dan has an excellent pool of terhouses and camping sites and always tries to ensure the highest quality where possible.

Dan also offers very competitive prices for the trips he organises. With nearly 700 trekking companies in kathmandu alone I am certain for the care and attention given to travellers with blue sky tours hsis prices would be hard to beat.

I would not hesitate to recommend blue sky tours for trekking expeditions and I am planning to return to Nepal in the near future to travel with Dan very soon. The only thing Dan cannot gurantee is the weather but weather is weather.

I would be happy to talk to anybody considering travelling with dan and can be contacted at doug.newlands@cfnw.org if prospective travellers have any questions.

In September 2001 we spend over days trekking in the Annapurna region and the experience would never been the same but for the help and guidance from Dan Tamang & Co. At the time they were recommended to us by other travelers and we did the same with our friends. Our experience plus feedback from our friends was excellent
